Sunday 11 June 2017 PM - Michael Bowen - Thrive - Part 9: The Joy of the Lord is Your Strength
June 11, 2017 04:18 AM PDT
Joy! Something that our souls are desperate for. Happiness is fleeting but joy is permanent. Nehemiah 8: Michael reads from verse 1 but then focusses on v10 - the verse that contains the Subject for our message here. In this chapter of Nehemiah, over 40,000 people are assembled to hear the word of God read to them. This reading filled their souls with joy.
From that point Michael uses several scriptures from both the New Testament and the Old Testament that show us what joy is and how to attain it. Some aspects are:
- Joy is one of the Fruits of the Spirit.

There are two parts to Ps Mark's message this time - both are related to prospering our soul and Thriving. Coming soon will be a major new approach to the structure and variety of Connect Groups, based on "Body, Soul, and Spirit". The Ministry Team have been discussing this all year and they will introduce the changes in August. Don't miss this section of the message.
Continuing the actual Thrive series, Ps Mark suggests that we, as a whole society, are obssessed with the word, 'love' ..... We love certain foods, we love a TV show or a movie, we love our children, we love our spouses, we love our favorite colours ..... Which is the Real Love?
Our souls long for this real love. From 1 Corinthians 13 we see how God defines real love. He created love, so He knows!
Verse 7: Love ..... "Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."
The Greek language language is, in some ways, deeper than English. (e.g. There are 6-8 different Greek words for 'love', describing the different ways of loving). Ps Mark expounds on the words, 'bear', 'believes', 'hopes', and 'endures, using practical illustrations, so that we can apply these scriptures into our own lives.Sunday 04 JUne 2017 AM - Ps Mark Riddell - Thrive - Part 7: Welcome Home
June 04, 2017 02:31 AM PDT
Ps Mark commences lightheartedly with some hilarious anecdotes of what it's like to be away from home, especially when camping, and how good it is when we get back home. Then he goes deeply into answering some questions, very important questions for the health and prosperity of our souls:
- What is the origin of our soul?
And what do the Bargara turtles and sea salmon have to do with all this?Sunday 28 May 2017 AM - Michael Bowen - Thrive - Part 6: "I AM", He is!
May 28, 2017 06:19 PM PDT
Hebrews 11:6 - "6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
How will people know that He is (exists)? Michael takes us on an interesting journey by examining Exodus 3:1-14, the story of The Burning Bush. The fire of God occupied that bush, but it was not consumed. Michael examines the following aspects:
- It was God Himself who occupied that bush, the Eternal, the Ancient of days.
Listen and hear the details and the exciting final conclusion to this quite different message.Sunday 28 May 2017 AM - Ps Mark Riddell - Thrive - Part 5: Hear and Understand
May 28, 2017 12:09 AM PDT
Is it well with your soul? 3 John 1:2 - "Beloved, in regard to all things I pray that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers."
In this series we have seen a number of ways that we need to live by so as to prosper our souls. In this message Ps Mark leads us through Matthew 13:1-23, the Parable of The Sower. This parable is not actually so much about seed (the Word of God) - it is about the kind of soil the seed lands on.
Ps Mark begins by reminding us that, in the beginning God spoke and Creation heard, understood, and obeyed. Ps Mark gives some fascinating insight into this. That then leads onto the creation of man ..... from dirt/dust/soil. What kind of dirt/dust/soil are we that we might be fruitful when the seed/Word lands on us?
Follow this message as Ps Mark shows us that the different kinds of soil can represent our:
If our soil is right, our soul will prosper and it will be well - 3 John 1:2.Sunday 22 May 2017 AM - Ps Phil Cavanagh - Thrive - Part 4: Patterns for Success
May 22, 2017 03:01 AM PDT
There are many areas of our souls, and therefore our lives, that need to Thrive. Ps Phil sets out to help us gain success in any and all of these areas. There are some things common to all of us that can impede or even prevent this success .....
These impediments to success are the thinking and behavioural Patterns that we have settled into during our upbringing and life experiences. They are patterns, habits, day-to-day life procedures that we unknowingly follow. They can be negative or positive.
Good news! Ps Phil shows us how we can break the negative patterns and convert to positive ones. He elaborates on these principles:
1. Identify weird patterns - They may seem normal to us, but others notice them. God the Gardener needs to prune these out of us.
2. Ditching the breaking behaviours - these patterns can either break us or build us.
3. Develop productive patterns - prayer, support network of others ..... some other simple things .....Sunday 22 May 2017 AM - Ps Mark Riddell - Thrive - Part 3: Does My Soul Have An Anchor?
May 22, 2017 02:45 AM PDT
Hebrews 6: 17-20 - from verse 19: "We have this hope as an anchor for our lives."
What hope was that, then? Ps Mark walks us through that scripture and points out the we need stability in our lives. The world outside is changeable; God doesn't change. we need an anchor to hold us steady when the storms of life come. Without an anchor we drift. Our souls become overwhelmed. We need an anchor.
We can assume that it is Jesus who is our anchor. PS Mark describes the attributes of the type of anchor we need and how Jesus is the only possible anchor that can be effective for us. We discover some attributes of an anchor that might surprise us! Encounter any storms lately? You need this anchor.Sunday 14 May 2017 AM - Ps Hugh Perry - Mothers Day Q&A
May 14, 2017 02:54 AM PDT
Happy Mothers Day.
A different service today - but very powerful. Ps Hugh has invited three women to answer some questions about mothers. They are:
Ps Christine Perry: Older children grown up, some left home, married, and with children.
Ps Katrina Ollis: Children all still at home, ages ranging from about 12-20.
Ps Jess Cavanagh: Still a brand new mum with a daughter of around 6 months old.
This is a message not to be missed if you are a mother, or think you might be one day. Dads, you need to hear this too. What's it like bringing children up in a Christian household? How can you fend off the negative influences of the world outside and just keep the positives? A must listen for all.Sunday 07 May 2017 AM - Ps Mark Riddell - Thrive - Part 2b: Restraint and Right Relationships
May 07, 2017 06:21 PM PDT
This message follows on directly from last week's message:
Is It Well With Your Soul? 3 John 1:2 - "Beloved, in regard to all things I pray that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers."
Part 1 of this series covered this well: If our souls prospers, then many other aspects of our lives also prosper.
In Part 2, Genesis 2:7-9 shows us how, in the time of the Garden of Eden when everything was perfect, we see several aspects of how our souls are kept healthy and well.
Continuing with Genesis, Ps Mark reveals that our souls will be healthy if we have Restraint and Right Relationships. He illustrates these aspects by expanding these points:
- Health and well-being starts from the inside, not the outside.
April 30, 2017 07:43 PM PDT
Ps Danny kicks off by using some incidents in his own family to show how his children were able to teach him new ways of doing things. Due to his own upbringing he had become set in doing things a certain way. We can't unlearn the way we grew up in our parents' household. That includes many negative aspects as well as the good. Kids watch their parents' behaviours, copy them, and are stuck with them, often for multiple generations. These can often be seen in addictions, domestic violence, negative speech, and much more. They are generational curses. They put down deep tap roots into the soil of our souls and are hard to pull out. BUT .....
Such curses are on the cross where Jesus dealt with them. Listen and find out how to soften the soil of your soul so that those tap roots of negative learned bahaviour can be pulled out. The secret is to water the soil to soften it and then the roots come out easily. How do we soften the soil of our souls?
Much more, with scriptures, in this message .....
